I took this steroid to control Poison Oak, although it resolved the problem, it also caused my (typeII) blood suger to go out of control. I don't how know this problem might affect insolin use? But it affected my insolin resistance after taking this steroid. Ask your doctor about this issue.

I take 40 mg a day for my auto immune pancreas. After undergoing a 8 1/2 hour surgery that removed over half my pancres i developed type one diabetes. At first after surgery i needed to take insuline but over a vouple of months my pancreas kicked in and i was creating enough insuline to do the job wothout help. Rrecently though something happened and now i can't control my blood sugar level no matter what i do. I know for sure prednisone is not helping me. My sugar levels are holding between 400 and 500 with my fasting low at 175. I feel for you. I ended up in the hospital on saturday due to extremly high sugar. Looks like i'm going back today. Also my doctors are scrambling right now to figure out what to do next. I sure hope i don't need another surgery. the last one took a lot out of me.

I just started taking Prednison for ITP and my blood sugar is going crazy. My BS goes from 200 to 450 at any given time. I have increased my medications and started Lantus, but it does not seem to help. Has anyone tried anything that works to control the blood sugar with prednisone.
